Dylan Redwine is now the subject of a horrible scam going around on Facebook, and possibly elsewhere. A man by the name of Abass Gadafi claims to be keeping the 13-year-old Colorado boy captive and is requesting money for various activities. Police confirm that this is a scam, but it’s unknown as to whether or not anyone actually fell for this and sent the guy money.

Cases like these bring all kinds of people out of the background, and some of them are not pleasant to say the least. Swindlers, charlatans and flat-out slimy con artists love to prey on victims — including those who are seeking missing children and adult loved ones.
Anyone who has been contacted by the scammer is being asked to contact officials in La Plata County @ (970) 385-2900. Perhaps the person can be tracked down and prosecuted for this behavior, but chances are he’s not even in the country.
The search for Dylan Redwine has not been successful and there haven’t been any investigative updates regarding his case. Officials have only confirmed that they don’t believe he ran away from his father’s home—most likely abducted or something else.
