A man has been charged with filing a fraudulent insurance claim that said he broke his clavical outside an Orange business at a time when he was being held at a prison in Somers.
The man, Gerald Moyher, 54, was charged Friday with insurance fraud.
He is being held at MacDougall-Walker Correctional Institution in Somers on $400 cash bond, and he is due back in Vernon Superior Court on Tuesday.

According to an affidavit supporting Moyher’s arrest, Traveler’s Property Insurance called Tolland County State’s Attorney’s Office in April 2011 claiming Moyher field a fraudulent insurance claim.
The affidavit, completed by an inspector with the state’s attorney’s office, also gives the following description of events:
The insurance company received a letter signed by someone claiming to be a lawyer representing Moyher, saying he slipped and fell on a commercial property in Orange on May 30, 2010.
Travelers also received a statement from Moyher, which was notarized, stating he stepped on a bag that covered a pool of oil, causing him to fall and break his clavicle.
But when Travelers contacted Moyher, he said he refused to comment and said he did not want to pursue his claim.
The investigator said Correction Department records indicate Moyher was incarcerated at Osborn Correctional Institution in Somers from May 29, 2010, to Nov. 18, 2010.
The affidavit does not sat why Moyher was being held, and online court records do not list any convictions after 2004 or pending cases besides his arrest Friday.
The investigator also found no licensed or practicing lawyers in Connecticut under the name Moyher used in the letter.
