On the run for decades – Paul Collins is now in custody, charged with sexually assaulting four children while working at the Arlington Boys & Girls Club in the late 70s. Prosecutors say the 62-year-old Collins acknowledged some of the accusations when he was arrested over the weekend in New York.
Investigators say the allegations surfaced as part of a separate investigation into claims of sexual assault by another club employee, William Sullivan, who is now dead.

In Cambridge District Court, prosecutors said four alleged victims in all came forward, claiming Collins had assaulted them while he was pool director and swim coach for the club. Prosecutors says Collins was fired in July of 1980 and left Massachusetts after he allegedly raped one of the victims at the youngster’s own home. The alleged victim recently told investigators that the club’s director know of the allegations and instructed Collins to leave.
The Boys and Girls Club issued a statement this weekend saying in part:
“We have been working cooperatively with the Arlington Police throughout the course of their investigation in recognition that no child should ever experience the trauma of abuse of any kind. Our thoughts and prayers are with all victims.”
