A Jewell man, last seen Thursday, remains missing.
Kenneth Heckman’s family planned a party Thursday for his 46th birthday but the guest of honor never showed up. According to the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office, Heckman was last seen in Ames Thursday morning, driving a yellow backhoe. On Friday, sheriff’s officials found Heckman’s pick-up truck on a farm west of Jewell. Officials also said Heckman’s cell phone has been turned off since he disappeared.

Heckman is white, 5 feet, 11 inches tall, 165 pounds and has a tattoo on his back, according to a description on the state’s missing person database.
Ames Police said they also are keeping an eye open for Heckman but as of Monday afternoon, had no additional information on the case.
