Identity Theft Man Indicted in Clark County, NV

A Clark County grand jury has indicted a man relating to a massive identity theft operation.

Evan Centeno, 31, faces 46 counts, mostly related to possessing stolen cards, stolen property and operating a financial forgery laboratory.

Police had pulled Centeno over near Maryland and Windmill for a parole violation, but was what was in the back seat caught their eye: a computer, a printer and blank checks. Centeno also had credit and debit cards in his pocket. According to the indictment, Centeno said one of them was fake, but police say that was just the beginning.

Police say Centeno had stolen items from more than 40 people in surrounding states and as far away as Australia, everything from credit cards to marriage licenses.

Amanda Arguelles, one of Centeno’s alleged victims, was picking up her daughter from preschool when she found her front passenger window of her car shattered, and her wallet and daughter’s birth certificate stolen.

Centeno, who has a rap sheet dating back to 2003, is scheduled to appear in court Wednesday.
