A Berea mother is in trouble after police say she drove drunk with her baby and boyfriend in the car, then crashed it. But that’s not the only trouble she faces.
It wasn’t a bad accident, officers say, just a dent on a guardrail. But police say it was an accident that shouldn’t have happened, because the driver, Brandy Cotton, 34, shouldn’t have been behind the wheel.
Cotton is now charged with DUI. Police say she just picked her boyfriend up from work Thursday night, and he quickly noticed her condition and tried to get her to pull over. He told police he was afraid for his safety as well as their one-year-old baby in the back seat. “He was doing the right thing to get her to pull over,” said Berea Police Sgt. Jake Reed.

Berea police originally got the call about the accident and shortly after that they got another 911 call they say describing that Cotton had allegedly assaulted a Good Samaritan who just pulled over to help.
When investigators arrive, they claim Cotton was carrying a concealed deadly weapon when the investigating officer found a tire iron under the front seat.
For now, Cotton is behind bars. Her baby was unharmed and is now in the custody of her boyfriend
