Identity Theft New York Woman Charged

A New York woman has been charged after police say she attempted to withdraw $9,000 from someone else’s bank account.

According to Newtown Township Police, Rosa Samuels, 58, attempted to withdraw the money from TD Bank on Upper Silver Lake Road shortly after 4 p.m. Friday. Samuels used a New York license with the name of a victim of identify theft and her own picture, police said.

When Samuels, a Bronx resident, attempted to withdraw the funds, a bank alert with a description of Samuels advised employees of previous fraudulent activity, police said.

Samuels was taken into custody and transported to headquarters before being arraigned by Judge Maggie Snow. She was charged with forgery, theft by unlawful taking and identity theft.

She was taken to Bucks County Prison in lieu of $100,000 bail.

Samuels is scheduled to have a preliminary hearing on July 29 in front of Judge Donald Nasshorn.
