Drug Dog Sweep Springfield, IL Man Faces Charges

A Springfield man is facing a series of drug-related charges after being stopped in Pike County with what police said was a pound and a half of medical-grade marijuana.

Nicholas M. Adkins-Embrey, 19, was stopped about 5:41 p.m. Monday on Interstate 72 for speeding, according to a report from Illinois State Police. A drug dog was called in and “reacted to a positive alert to the odor of narcotics coming from within the vehicle,” police said.
