A registered sex offender is behind bars after investigators say she was babysitting children in her own home.
38-year-old Elvira Leyva-Maciel was arrested on Friday by the Pitt County Sheriff’s Office.
Leyva-Maciel was found guilty of indecent liberties with a child back in February of 2011, according to the Department of Corrections website.

Leyva-Maciel has been charged with felony childcare in sex offender home.
Pitt County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Christy Wallace says that the children were the those of Leyva-Maciel’s friends.
She’s being held on a $25,000 bond.
