Wrongful Death Elderly Man Dies After Fight with Roommate

In Lexington, one man is dead after getting into a fight with his roommate early Saturday morning. Now his roommate is behind bars, charged with murder.

Police say it started as an argument, then turned deadly at a home on Cambridge Drive.

42-year-old Claude Dalrymple and 73-year-old Dale Irons got into a fight around 7:00am, according to police. When police arrived at the home, Irons was taken to UK Hospital where he later died. Dalrymple was arrested and charged with murder. Although the cause of death is still under investigation, police say Irons suffered blunt force trauma.

“We were actually surprised because we knew some people that lived there but we didn’t know who it was that died,” remembers Daissy Santana, a neighbor.

Some neighbors say the area is predominantly a hispanic community, where everyone looks out for one another. Now, they are scared for their children’s safety.

“We are a little nervous with what happened so we’re going to an extra eye out on the kids and won’t let them go anywhere without us,” says Zobida Dominguez, a neighbor and mother.

Those who have lived in the area for several years say nothing like this has happened before and it’s a relatively quiet neighborhood, until Saturday morning when sirens flooded their streets.

The manager of the property declined to comment on camera.

Police say a third roommate lived in the house with Irons and Dalrymple but it’s not clear if he was at home when the fight broke out.

The incident is still under investigation.
