Missing Person Woman Missing Again in Maryland

A woman that was rescued after being found floating face down in the Hudson River five years ago has gone missing.

Hannah Emily Upp, 28, a Spanish teacher in Maryland was seen near Kemp Mill Road around 8 a.m. on Tuesday, instead of at the Montessori school where she works and lives, reports NBC.

Hannah has been diagnosed with a rare form of amnesia called dissociative fugue where a person forgets their identity and will wander or travel away from their homes for days, even up to years, with no knowledge of who they are.

An episode happened to Hannah in 2008, when she was found floating face down in the water. When she was pulled up she began gasping for breath. She had been missing for over two weeks.

“I went from going for a run to being in the ambulance,” Upp told The Times in 2008 . “It was like 10 minutes had passed, but it was almost three weeks.”

While in the hospital recuperating from hypothermia and dehydration at the Richmond University Medical Center in Staten Island, Upp was told she was suffering from dissociative fugue.

Hannah received a lot of media attention afterwards, in part because of the movie “Bourne Identity,” where the character experienced memory loss similar to hers.

Hannah who was a teacher at Hamilton Heights wondered at the time if her disappearance had something to do with the start of school. She dismissed the thought when she found out that the episodes are usually isolated events, but with her disappearance during the beginning of another school year, you can help but wonder if she may have been right.

If you see Hannah, please contact the with police at 240-773-5530. Hannah has brown hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a black shirt and brown pants and some of her belongings were found on a footpath near Wheaton Plaza.
