Police have labeled the case of a missing man here “critical” because he threatened to kill himself.
Police are looking for Manuel Hechavarria, 49, who has been missing since shortly before 5 p.m. Sunday.
Following a verbal argument with family members, Hechavarria grabbed a knife and threatened to kill himself, according to a news release issued Monday morning.
He left the area armed with a knife.
Hechavarria is believed to be driving a green late-90s Plymouth Voyager van, which has minor collision damage to the front bumper.
Hechavarria, who is 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighs 210 pounds, is listed as a “critical missing person” because of the suicide threat, said Sgt. Doug Imhof, spokesman for the Fontana Police Department.
Hechavarria was last seen wearing a black and orange zip-up jacket, a dark colored t-shirt and faded black jeans.
He wears his long hair in a poneytail, has a moustache, black prescription glasses and a glass right eye.
