Identity Theft Authorities Looking for Possible Victims in Spokane, Wash.

Authorities charged a 24-year-old for multiple counts of Indecent Liberties, First Degree Theft, Unlawful Imprisonment and Fourth Degree Assault related to an identity theft ring.

Officials said Michael J. McNearney was out on bail for charges of Second Degree Assault by Strangulation but was booked into jail on new charges involving three separate victims.

Deputies said McNearney was the subject of a lengthy investigation into possible charges of identity theft, assaults, threats and other crimes that may involve over a dozen women in Spokane and Kootenai Counties dating back to 2010.

Authorities said he met most of the women at local nightclubs and bars, as well as social media and online dating sites. They said he claims he is an active duty Marine in an attempt to gain favor and credibility, but the US Armed Services says he has never been in the military.

Official are releasing McNearney’s photo to help identify potential victims or witnesses who may have information about him and his activities.
