After an investigation, deputies learned Curtis Brewer, 35, had escaped from the jail in Jefferson County, stolen a truck and driven to Laurel County on March 22. He was serving a 10-year sentence for burglary. Deputies say he admitted to taking a large amount of meth before driving the truck into the ditch.
Deputies charged Brewer with operating a motor vehicle under the influence, fleeing police, resisting arrest, menacing, and receiving stolen property. He also faces an escape charge out of Jefferson County.
