Private Investigator, Louisville Man Accused of Selling Cars, Keeping Money From Dealership

A Louisville car salesman is accused of selling 15 cars from the dealership where he worked and keeping the cash for himself.

Police say Danny Brown sold cars between August and December of 2013 at a small dealership in Louisville but would take customers’ money and not give it to the dealership.

Police say Brown sold the cars when the business was closed on Sundays; he had access to keys and would create his own invoices.

Court documents show he got away with a little more than $10,000 in cash. Police say the investigation started after customers came to the business to get titles transferred.

Brown’s mother, Edith Mayfield, said her son worked at Metro Motors for eight years and believes the business is trying to get back at her son because he left the dealership.

“He left in December. I don’t know why all of this is coming up now. It’s ridiculous,” she said.

Investigators believe Brown stole the money to feed a drug habit, which his mother says is not possible.

“It’s really heartbreaking because my son’s a good boy and even they said that at the car lot. So, why are they doing this to him?” she said.
