A Florence attorney has been arrested and charged with multiple counts of billing his clients out of hundreds of thousands of dollars over a 13 year period, and forging court documents and bank statements in an effort to conceal his misappropriations.
Officials say John G. Arnett, 67, of Union, Ky., gambled money entrusted to him by multiple clients. He was arrested Monday around 8:30 a.m. Arnett is charged with five counts of theft by unlawful taking over $10,000 and three counts of forgery second degree.

The case came to light on Dec. 9, 2013, when Arnett could not disburse $82,389.62 to a couple who were his clients. Arnett was arrested for contempt of court, and since then, investigators have found other victims. Officials believe there are still more victims they have not yet discovered.
Arnett is being held in the Boone County Detention Center.
