Officials in Wolfe County are searching for a man they say escaped from the courthouse on Wednesday after being served with an indictment.

Officials say 22-year-old John Trent escaped on foot from an officer at the Judicial Building after he came out of a meeting in which he was served with an indictment for a February DUI arrest.

Kentucky State Police and the Mt. Sterling Police K-9 Units looked for the suspect Wednesday afternoon around the Judicial Building and the wooded area behind the Courthouse and the Wolfe County Senior Citizens building.

Trent is still on run. He is described as a 5-3 white man with brown hair and weighs about 160 lbs.

He is charged with fleeing and evading, DUI, driving on suspended license, reckless driving, criminal mischief, wanton endangerment and other traffic charges.

Court Security Officer Jacob Holland received minor injuries during the chase and was taken to a medical clinic and checked out.

If anyone sees Trent or know of his whereabouts, they are asked to contact the Wolfe County Sheriff’s Department at 606-668-3569 or the Kentucky State Police at 1-800–222-5555.
