A homeless sex offender who had spent time in federal prison faces felony charges in Brown County, accused of molesting a 7-year-old girl he was babysitting.
Gary Michael Kaquatosh, 56, is accused of first-degree sexual assault of a child under 13 as a repeat offender. He also is charged with failing to meet sex-offender reporting requirements, also as a repeat offender.
The girl told police that her male babysitter inappropriately touched her in February in the west side apartment where she lives with her mother and brother, according to a criminal complaint filed Friday in Brown County Circuit Court.

The child’s parents were at a local casino during the incident, according to the complaint.
City police were called to the apartment about 4:30 a.m. for a report of children running in the hallway; they said Kaquatosh told them that the girl and her brother had locked him out, the complaint states.
In 2010, Kaquatosh pleaded no contest to failing to register as a sex offender and was sentenced to two years’ probation, according to Wisconsin court records posted online. A judge revoked his probation three months later and sentenced him to a year in state prison.
He was convicted in federal court in March 1992 of aggravated sexual assault of a child younger than 12, the complaint states.
