Investigators are calling a fire that destroyed a Boyle County home earlier Monday suspicious.
The heavy smoke and the flames were visible for a distance as they devoured a Parksville home in a matter of minutes. In that time, decades of Brenda Cook’s memories were suddenly gone.
“My children, all three of them grew up here,” Cooks said. “We can’t replace that.”

Cook was renting out the house to a family. A family, she says, she was headed to court Tuesday morning to evict. Around noon on Monday, Cook says she got off the phone with police about that pending eviction.
“Not 10 minutes later, he called and told me they had sent fire trucks to this residence,” Cooks said.
“At the time, this fire is under investigation as an arson fire from what we’ve heard from the landowners, and so that’s the way that we’re going currently,” said Boyle County Fire Lt. Tim Middleton.
Monday’s powerful winds created an obstacle for firefighters. Crews worked fast, but they were unable to save Cook’s home. Their focus now shifts toward figuring out how what sparked the fire and who is responsible.
So far, no one has been charged.
