The Fayette County Coroner has identified the woman who was shot and killed while sitting on her front porch Sunday afternoon in Lexington.
The coroner says 23-year-old Amanda Franco died of multiple gunshot wounds.
Lexington Police say Franco was gunned down at her Race Street home in broad daylight as several kids played nearby. The shooting is being investigated as a homicide and investigators are retracting the suspect’s description because, they say, after speaking to several witnesses, the descriptions don’t match up. Police say at this time they don’t know what he looks like or if he was working alone.

Franco’s shooting death marks the 11th homicide this year in Lexington. Police say they’re especially concerned about this one because of how many children were in the area when several shots were fired. While they still don’t know if this shooting was an isolated incident, they emphasized the victim led what police describe as a “high risk” lifestyle and believe that may have led to the shooting.
Monday morning, neighbors are still trying to make sense and understand why something like this would happen. They say they’re aware there have been several other shootings around town, but are now scared because this one has hit too close to home.
“My grandson just came from around that corner and then, what if he had witnessed it? I would have to send him to counseling. It’s just too much involved. The little kids that live around there, they’re going to need some counseling,” said one neighbor.
Several other neighbors say they plan on moving away from the area in light of the shooting. Police say they have extra patrols working around the clock.
Police ask if you saw or heard anything, give them a call.
