Sheriff Elliot says the drug raid took place just after midnight on Friday and that’s when Mikey Essex fled in his car. Deputies used spike strips to try and slow Essex down, but the suspect lost control of his car and drove through several fences and then left running. The Lexington Police helicopter was called to the scene but officials were unable to locate Essex.
He’s described to be in his early 50’s with black and gray hair. He’s about 5’8″ with a medium build. Sheriff Elliot says they have no reason to believe he’s still in Boyle County but after his actions on Friday, he’s considered a danger to society.
“This man’s actions that night were clear that he did not care nor did he have any regard for anyone but himself by fleeing from law enforcement and driving in the reckless manner that he did. He put the public at a great risk,” said Boyle County Sheriff Marty Elliot.
The sheriff says this man is considered armed and extremely dangerous. In fact, he’s also wanted in Mercer County. If you know where he may be call the Boyle County Sheriff’s Office.
