Private Detective, Unidentified Man Killed on Train Track in Lexington

A train hit and killed a man in Lexington Friday morning.

Firefighters say the victim, a white man in his 20s or 30s, was hit on the tracks somewhere between Rosemont Garden and Pasadena Drive around 6:30 a.m.

A train conductor said when he saw the man lying down on the tracks he sounded his horn, but the man never moved. It remains unclear why the man was on the tracks or where exactly he was when the train hit him.

Officials say the train is about a mile long and it took them a while to find the victim.

The Fayette County coroner said he doesn’t believe this to be a suicide. He says he isn’t sure if the man fell and tripped, causing an injury that knocked him out or if he was under the influence and passed out.

The coroner said he will await an autopsy and toxicology reports to determine exactly what happened.

Officials say the victim had no identification on him and they are asking anyone who may have a friend or family member, who matches the vague description, whom they haven’t heard from recently to contact the coroner’s office.
