Private Detective. Clark Co. Man Charged with DUI

32-year-old Jeffrey Hopper may be smiling in his mug shot, but his situation is far from funny. Winchester police arrested him for DUI and two counts of wanton endangerment on Winn Avenue Thursday night.

The officer noted a ‘strong odor of alcohol’ and saw his eyes were ‘red and bloodshot.’ He also noted that Hopper’s speech was slurred.

“His Breathalyzer was almost three times the legal limit,” says Capt. Harvey Craycraft.

Police say that Hopper blew a .247 on the Breathalyzer and according to the citation, his girlfriend and 9-year-old child were in the car against their will.

“The passengers were fine they indicated he had been drinking all day was also drinking while driving from Lexington to Winchester,” says Capt. Craycraft.

The girlfriend had refused to get in the car with Hopper initially, but ended up riding with him to Winchester as she was concerned about the child’s well-being, according to officials.

Hopper was charged with DUI back in 2011. For now he’s off the road and locked up in the Clark County Jail. If convicted of wanton endangerment charges, he could face up to five years in prison.
