The Madison County Sheriff’s Office says they’ve found the remains of a woman missing since 2011. Her husband is now charged in connection with her death.

Mary Carrithers, a Madison County woman, went missing in April, 2011. The sheriff’s office announced today that they found her body last week just south of Lacey’s Spring on Highway 231 at Husky Mountain Road. New information in the case lead them to her body.

Carrithers’ last known residence was in the Owens Cross Roads area. After she was reported missing, deputies say the backyard of the home was dug up as they tried to find clues in her disappearance, but nothing was found there.
Authorities arrested Charles Carrithers late last week. He is charged with murder in connection with her death.

The sheriff’s office says they’re not sure of Carrithers’ cause of death at this time, but they are working with Alabama State Department of Forensics to find the cause.
The sheriff did say they interview Carrithers after his arrest, but he wasn’t saying anything.
Charles Carrithers is currently held in the Madison County jail on a $750,000 bond.
