Deputies arrested a 73-year-old Liberty man for sex offenses involving a child Monday.
William Roger Overman, of Way Road, is charged with one count of felony first-degree rape of a child, two counts of felony first-degree statutory sex offense of a child, and one count of felony indecent liberties with a child.
Deputies say the investigation started after a report filed by the victim’s family in October. The alleged sex offenses date back to 2002 and went on for several years, according to the Sheriff’s office.

Deputies arrested Overman at his house Monday and placed him in the Alamance County jail. He’s being held under a $400,000 secured bond.
Overman’s first court appearance is scheduled for Tuesday at 2 p.m.
Deputies say there could be more victims. As investigators continue to look into this case, more charges could be on the way.
