Neighbors in Lily, in Laurel County, are upset after several homes were broken into yesterday.
Even though police say that front doors were locked in Lily, that didn’t stop a thief or thieves from breaking into homes along 552. Now some neighbors are out thousands of dollars and police are trying to track down whoever is responsible. Officials believe the burglaries happened in broad daylight.
“For us to have 5 or 6, in the same vicinity in the same day, real unusual, and it’s obvious whoever did it tried to catch people away from their homes gone to work or wherever,” says Gilbert Acciardo, Public Affairs Deputy for the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office.

Neighbors tell LEX 18 that it is alarming that this happened during daylight hours.
Police say that the thief or thieves pried open the front doors of the homes, getting their hands on everything from electronics, guns and even a safe with silver inside. The victims are out as much as $20,000, say detectives.
Officials say the homes that were targeted were off of Hwy 552 between Landfill and Ky. 363. If you saw any unusual activity or vehicles in the area yesterday or days prior the Laurel County Sheriff’s Department would like to hear from you
