Private Detective: Human Remains Found in Anderson County

The Anderson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating human remains found this weekend in a heavily wooded area several miles west of Lawrenceburg.

The Anderson County coroner tells WKYT that on Saturday, two deer hunters found the contents of a man’s wallet in a heavily wooded area off New Liberty Road about 15 miles west of Lawrenceburg.

Deputies were called out to the area and found more skeletonized human remains. The bones were found in the pasture land, as well as the heavily wooded area.

The coroner said investigators recovered 60 bags of evidence. All 60 bags were taken to the state medical examiner’s office in Frankfort.

We’re told that investigators will try to identify the body by using dental records. Investigators will also look for evidence of trauma.

Investigators have not yet determined how long the bones have been there or how the person died.

“On Monday, the remains will be examined for the evidence of foul play to see if there was any trauma, a gunshot wound or penetrating stab wound or any evidence of blunt trauma which would help explain cause of death,” said Anderson County Coroner Mark Tussey.

At this time, officials are not sure if the body found was that of a man or woman.

Investigators are also not sure if the wallet that was found belonged to that victim.
