Investigators say what started as a simple knock on the door, turned into a violent robbery in Madison County and the robbers are still at large.
Neighbors describe the Quail West neighborhood as a quaint and quiet area tucked away in Northern Madison County. That’s why they were surprised to hear police sirens after several robbers struck this home Friday evening.
Investigators say it all unfolded around 9:00 p.m. at night. They say several men knocked on the door of a house in the neighborhood and attacked two men with whom they were acquainted inside the home.

“You always make sure that you know who’s at your door and it’s a lot easier to give help through the door,” says Joe Mras, a neighbor of the victims.
Both men went to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries, but police say the men responsible are still on the loose. Investigators believe this was not a random act and say it appears to have been a targeted robbery.
