State police have identified the person killed in a single vehicle accident in Madison County, Monday evening.
Richard A. Tillery, 18, was driving on South US 25 in a BMW near the Rockcastle County line.
Tillery lost control of his vehicle and crossed the oncoming lane of traffic, before leaving the left side of the road and colliding with a tree. He was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Madison County Coroner. It does not appear that he was wearing his seatbelt and speed appears to be a factor in the collision.

Police tell LEX 18 that a trooper, heading North on 25, noticed the speeding vehicle but the trooper lost visual contact with Tillery’s vehicle.
A few moments later, after turning around, the trooper stumbled upon Tillery’s car after he had already crashed.
The investigation into the accident is ongoing.
