Officials are searching for a 16-year-old La Porte County girl who’s been missing since the day before Thanksgiving.
According to information released by the girl’s mother and stepfather, 16-year-old Alexandria Clawson went missing sometime around 10 p.m on Nov. 26. at her grandmother’s home by U.S. 6 and 35 in La Porte County. She has a black streak in her bangs, pierced ears and a pierced nose. She reportedly likes to dye her hair frequently, but does not usually prefer dark colors.

According to stepfather Mike Strauss, the family noticed she was missing when Alexandria’s brother went to show her some pictures on his phone and couldn’t find her. Strauss said they located a trail of footprints leading from the back door of the home to the road, and that was it. Strauss said they are looking to see if she is with her biological father, or if there is a connection between her disappearance and a person who disappeared on the same day in Michigan City.
Alexandria’s mother Maranda Taylor said her daughter has sneaked out before, but would always be back the same night. A disappearance this long was unusual. She did note that prior to her disappearance, Alexandria had talked about wanting to be on her own.
Those with any information are encouraged to contact Strauss at 574-540-7174, or La Porte County Sheriff’s Deputy Joel Shannon at 326-7700 ext. 8003.
