It’s been more than a week since investigators said an Estill County man died from injuries suffered in an apparent assault.
The Fayette County Coroner’s office labelled the case a homicide, but state police are not sure if anyone will be charged.
William Cain died at UK hospital on Nov. 25. A report from the Fayette County Coroner’s office said the 23-year-old man died from injuries he suffered in an assault on Barnes Mountain in Estill County.

State Police said they were working a death investigation, but were still sorting out the details. Troopers would not comment on specifics of an assault, but did say Cain was in an accident in a stolen truck on Barnes Mountain.
Cain’s father tells LEX18 he was left in the dark, and just wanted to know what happened to his son.
