Pedophile Tracking Convicted Sex Offender Wins Lottery and Gets Sued by Victims

A convicted sex offender in Florida won a $3 million lottery prize – but two alleged victims want to put an end to his newfound fortune.

WPTV-TV reported that 43-year-old Timothy Poole is being sued, just weeks after winning big in Florida’s $3 million scratch off lottery.

Poole pleaded guilty to a 1999 charge of attempted sexual battery on a child younger than 12. The conviction involved a 9-year-old boy.

He spent 13 months in jail, but was freed after taking a plea bargain. Poole is currently serving 10 years on sex offender probation.

The alleged victims who are suing are brothers who said they were 5 and 9 years old at the time of the crime in 1996. Poole’s conviction involved a different 9-year-old.

The suit states that the boys were abused by Poole for more than a year. The damages listed in the suit include suffering from physical pain, post-traumatic stress disorder and severe depression.

The Florida Lottery announced Poole’s winning on Dec. 9 and Poole took the prize in a lump-sum payment of $2,219,807.90.

Attorneys representing the alleged victims said they want Poole’s winnings frozen until the suit is settled.

“We are not attempting to get him any additional prison time,” said Attorney Mark NeJame. “He has served his time to society, but he has not served his dues for the alleged massive damage caused to these children.”

Poole works as a taxi cab driver. Once the suit is served, he has 20 days to respond.

There are no laws that prevent sex offenders from playing the lottery.
