Private Detective: Sale Over Facebook Leads To Shots Fired Outside Lexington Motel

A cell phone sale arranged over social media turned into an attempted robbery in Lexington with shots fired as the victim tried to get away.

Lexington Police said it happened around 2 p.m. Sunday outside of the Days Motel on Versailles Road.

“The suspects demanded money from the victim, so the victim tried to flee from the parking lot in their vehicle and at that time, the suspects shot at least three shots towards the victims vehicle,” explained Lt. Jesse Harris with Lexington Police.

Police said the victim was not hit by the bullets but officers are not sure about any damage to the vehicle.

“Sometimes it’s on Craigslist. Sometimes Facebook. But people just need to be very careful about who they are meeting with and where they are meeting people because you never know when a situation like this might take place,” said Lt. Harris.

Investigators described the two suspects as two women, one 6-foot tall, the other 5-foot tall. One was wearing a red hoodie, the other had on a gray hoodie.

The owner of Days Motel told LEX 18 that no one involved in the incident was staying at the motel.
