Private Detective: Clark Co. Man Accused of Luring Young Girls Faces Judge

A Clark County man accused of attempting to kidnap two young girls faced a judge Wednesday.

Winchester police got a call about a man who tried to pick up a 12 and 13-year-old at the corner of Lincoln Street and Hickman Avenue. The girls told police the man stopped his white truck, opened the door and told them to get in. The girls ran away and Hamilton was found a mile away, police said.

Police say Hamilton admitted to driving around and that he saw the girls, but didn’t say anything to them when he stopped at a stop sign.

According to Thomas Hamilton’s citation, police searched the attempted kidnapping suspect’s vehicle and found a couple of ropes, a folded towel, a pillow, a steak knife and a lot of plastic sheeting.

The Commonwealth attorney says that the charge should have been attempted kidnapping. Hamilton’s defense attorney contended that there was no basis for that charge and asked for a dismissal.

The judge told attorneys that he had no doubt in his mind that Hamilton had intended to commit a crime, but amended the charge to unlawful imprisonment, a misdemeanor.

Hamilton will be back in court January 12 at 9:00 a.m. for amended charge of unlawful imprisonment.
