Police say the body of a 20-year-old man discovered inside a house in Michigan City is that of a person reported missing in November.
Damarius Kelly was located just before noon Wednesday in the 400 block of Holiday Street off Michigan Boulevard on the city’s north end.
Police and the LaPorte County Coroner’s Office were not disclosing the cause or manner of death, preferring to wait for the results of an autopsy before revealing further details.

According to police, Kelly was last seen November 26 and reportedly had been staying at different locations up until his disappearance.
Investigators were told by family members Kelly was wired $200 but he never picked up the money and failed to show for a Thanksgiving dinner, something described as uncharacteristic of him, police said.
Authorities also did not provide clues on how long Kelly had been dead or confirm whether the house he was found in was vacant.
”I can’t give out any details on the condition of the deceased,” said Michigan City Police Chief Mark Swistek.
LaPorte County Chief Deputy Coroner Mark Huffman said an autopsy is scheduled Friday afternoon in Lafayette.
He was not sure how long it will take for the forensic examination to determine how Kelly died.
”Sometimes it’s a day or two. Sometimes it’s a week. It depends on how in depth they get with the case and how easy the case is for them to find out,” said Huffman.
There is a site on Facebook entitled Find Damarius Kelly – missing from Michigan City, Indiana.
On that page, there is a message that conveys a desire by the family for patience and privacy during their time of grief.
”Much will become known about what happened to Damarius in the coming days and weeks, but today is not the day for those kinds of questions. Today is a day to provide prayers and wishes of peace and comfort for the family and friends who lost their gentle giant. As always…when we know more, you will know more,” the post states.
