Drug Dog Sweep 2 Arrested in Ohio on Felony Drug Charges

Ohio State Highway Patrol Troopers say a Reno man and woman face felony drug charges after authorities seized more than 235 pounds of marijuana after a traffic stop.

Troopers say they stopped a 2007 Chevy 1500 pick-up truck for marked lanes and failure to signal violations on Interstate 80, near milepost 133 in Lorain County on the afternoon of January 21st.

Troopers say a drug-sniffing dog was called in after criminal indicators were observed. They say a probable cause search revealed the marijuana.

Troopers say the driver, 42-year-old Kimberly M. Benson and passenger, 62-year-old Daniel M. Essad were taken to Lorain County Jail and charged with possession and trafficking in marijuana, both second-degree felonies.

If convicted, each could face up to 16 years in prison and up to a $30,000 fine.
