The Lexington man accused of killing his girlfriend and dismembering her body faced a judge Thursday morning.
Police believe that Paris Charles murdered Goldie Massey in his own home. A detective with the Lexington Police Department testified about the investigation which started back in the fall.
Charles was arrested on charges of murder and abuse of a corpse. Police believe on the night of September 20, Charles killed Massey and severed the body into multiple parts.

Weeks later, Massey’s arm was found on the banks of the Kentucky River in Henry County. Shortly after, her torso washed up in Jessamine County.
During testimony, Detective Steve McCowan said they DNA at the home and a cellphone tower picked him up near the Fayette/Madison County line where they believe he could have dumped some of the body parts.
“The tower locations indicated he was in the area of the Kentucky River, near the Fayette, Madison County line on September 22; in both of those counties at the location there are two bridges at I-75 and US 25 that are adjacent to one another, those two bridges span an area between Madison County and Fayette County,” Det. McCowan told the judge.
Charles remains in jail without bond. His case is now going to a grand jury.
