A Scott County man is facing a long list of charges, because police said he kidnapped his ex-wife using duct tape, drew crude images on her body, and assaulted her in front of their son. It happened Sunday on Salinger Drive in Georgetown.
On the quiet street inside the home in the 100 block of Salinger Drive, neighbors said they never thought 29-year-old Zachary Shelton could be accused of such a vicious crime.

“Oh my God! Why would somebody do something like that? I think it’s sick,” said Marianne Lynn, who lives across from Shelton’s home.
“To me this sounds like kind of a messed up situation between a family,” added Andrew Height. He lives three doors down from Shelton’s house where the alleged attack occurred.
In court documents, Georgetown Police said the situation started on Sunday, when Shelton’s ex-wife was visiting her son. She told officers she was suddenly attacked. According to the arrest citation Shelton duct taped the woman’s hands and feet together, then drew a lewd image on her forearm and face.
However, the alleged attack didn’t end there. According to court documents, Shelton had their son draw a tattoo on her back. Then, Shelton is accused of smacking the woman in the stomach, dragging her across the floor and pulling her underwear until it ripped. Police said when they got there, they found a photo of the scene.
“I mean, that little boy is going to remember what daddy did to mommy and that’s sad,” said Lynn.
According to court documents, Shelton admitted the crime to police. However, he said it was all in fun, and that he had no ill intent in his actions. Since he bonded out of jail on Tuesday, LEX 18 went to get his side of the story. However, he didn’t answer the door at his house.
So, could this have simply been a prank taken too far? “I wouldn’t say that’s so much a prank, because you don’t violate some body’s body, tie them up and drag them across the floor as a prank,” said Height.
Whatever the case, neighbors said they didn’t find it funny. “I hope he doesn’t do it again. I hope he gets help,” said Lynn.
Shelton was arrested for several crimes including kidnapping, assault, unlawful transaction with a minor, and harassment.
