Police say a Scott County fast food worker is in jail after stealing an ambulance and taking it on a joy ride.
It happened at the Paris Pike Wendy’s around 7 p.m. Thursday Night..
Georgetown police say Tara Anne Hughes is being held without bond after she left work at Wendy’s last night and stole an ambulance.
Police say Wendy’s employees suspected the 31-year-old was under the influence at work and sent her home. An ambulance crew happened to be eating at the same fast food restaurant when Hughes left. Police say as she was leaving work she somehow got into the ambulance which was left idling.

Hughes is accused of driving the ambulance a few miles through town to Bluegrass Liquor Box where she purchased a bottle of Fireball Whiskey in the drive through. The ambulance was too tall for the drive through and she tore the awning off the liquor store.
Hughes was arrested at a gas station. Police say Hughes was very intoxicated when they made that arrest and that she told them she thought she was driving her dad’s work truck, not an ambulance.
