Private Detective: Robber Used Stun Gun On Lexington Bank Teller

Police are searching for the man who officers said used a stun gun on a bank teller during a Lexington robbery.

Surveillance cameras inside the Chase Bank on Richmond Road near New Circle Road captured images of the robber walking in around 9:30 a.m. Friday with a bandana covering his face. He was also wearing sunglasses, a ball cap, green pants, a grey jacket, and possibly even fake dreadlocks.

“He jumped over the gate on the side to get behind the counter and, at that time, he stunned one of the female tellers,” Lt. Kevin Metcalf with the Lexington Police Department told LEX 18’s Josh Breslow.

Police said the bank teller was not hurt.

The man got away with some cash and the K9 unit was brought in to help search for the robber. He is described as a 5’9” light-complected black male with a thin build.

“During the day? In broad daylight? It really is shocking,” said Pamela Brown, the owner of Pam’s Dry Cleaning, which is located behind the bank.

Brown said she has been in business for more than 30 years and, while the area has seen its share of crime, she has never heard of anything so violent.

“People are getting so brave anymore, honestly. So brave. But I’m just glad that she didn’t get hurt really bad. That’s the important thing,” Brown said. “It’s gonna make me be a lot more cautious. I can tell you that right now.”

Anyone with information on the investigation is asked to contact the Lexington Police Department.
