Missing Person Search Continues for Magoffin Co. Woman

Kentucky State Police are asking for the public’s help finding a missing Magoffin County woman. Rescue crews spent hours on Wednesday looking for 40-year old Tabitha Ann Dotson, and now her family is convinced something is wrong.

“Just let us know ‘I am okay,’ that’s it,” said Debbie Howard, as she begged for answers about her daughters disappearance.

It’s a plea from a private family on Flatfork Road. That’s where Tabitha lives surrounded by trees, terrain and plenty of loved ones. It’s also where she vanished into the night.

“Nothing like this has ever happened,” said James Howard, Tabitha’s father. “She has never done nothing like this,” added Debbie.

Tabitha’s parents said their beloved daughter is a devoted mother. On Monday night she put her husband and children to bed, then early Tuesday morning she was missing.

“My granddaughter called and said she couldn’t find her mother. And we got out and looked, and looked, and looked and couldn’t find any trace of her,” said James.

Family said Tabitha doesn’t have a license. They said they aren’t sure if she left on her own, if she was taken or there was an accident.

“When they all got up the next morning she was gone. Nothing was missing, no personal items, the only thing they can’t find is her IPad,” said Chief Carter Conley, with the Magoffin County Rescue Squad.

Family called in search and rescue for help on Wednesday. Crews scoured all of the roads and woods within three square miles of the house.

“I never thought that I would ever be walking up and down the side of the road looking for my daughters body,” said James.

“We went into the area and divided up, actually had about six teams yesterday. About two or three to a team, going in different directions,” said Conley.

After three hours of searching, the rescue crews came up empty handed. Now Kentucky State Police are asking the public to keep a sharp eye. Dotson is described as approximately 4′ 11″ and weighs 195 lbs. She was last seen wearing blue jeans with holes, a black tee shirt with fire flames, and black boots.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact the Kentucky State Police at 1-(800) 222-5555 or (606) 433-7711. Callers may remain anonymous.

All Dotson’s family wants, is to have her back. “Tell us whether you’re alive or not, that’s all we need to know,” said Debbie.
