Private Detective: Two Elderly People Bound and Robbed in Home Invasion

An elderly man and his 97-year-old mother say they were tied up in their Covington home for an hour as two weapon-wielding thieves ransacked their house.

The incident occurred when two men came to Bill Rice’s door and said they wanted to use the phone. But Rice soon realized they wanted to get their hands on something else.

Wednesday afternoon, Bill says he went to the store when he came back two men were talking to his 97-year-old mother at the front door. Police say the pair asked for money but when Rice and his mother said they didn’t have any, the men barged into the home.

“They put a gun to my head and they had a knife also and they made me go upstairs and tied me up,” said Rice.

The thieves then tied them in the home’s bedroom.

For an hour the crooks ransacked the place. They eventually left, but not before threatening to kill both Rice and his mother.

His mother was eventually able to free herself and call police.

He says they took a lot of his mother’s jewelry, $100 and his cell phone. Both had bruises from being bound but neither Rice nor his mother were seriously hurt.
