The Owensboro Police Department is conducting an investigation after multiple Williamsburg Police Department items were stolen at a conference.
The equipment all belonged to a vendor and not the police department.
One item stolen was a navy blue police-style uniform bearing the Williamsburg Police Department shoulder patch. The patch was a prop used by a vendor that specializes in selling emergency equipment. It was a part of a display at the Kentucky Sheriff’s Association’s annual conference.

Other items stolen from the conference include blue strobe lights that are installed inside the vehicle, not on the roof, as well as a bulletproof vest and gun holsters.
There were also reports of items being stolen from other vendors too.
The stolen uniform is not exactly like the department’s actual uniform. A real Williamsburg uniform will have gray lapels. The stolen uniforms are dark navy but do not have the same lapels. The metal badge on the uniform was not a Williamsburg badge, it has the name of another Kentucky law enforcement agency on it.
The intent and extent of the thefts is still unknown.
