Wrongful Death Lexington Man Accused of Killing Mother Faces Judge

The man accused of killing his mother and then leading police on a high speed chase through Kansas and Colorado was brought back to Kentucky and appeared before a judge Monday.

A sheriff’s deputy brought Jack Clemons into a Fayette County Courtroom in a wheelchair. He never once addressed the court and remained silent throughout the proceedings.

Clemons was arrested and charged for the July 14 murder of his mother, Shirley Clemons. A detective with the Lexington Police Department took the stand and said that on that date, on River Park Circle, police found Shirley Clemons’ body wrapped in a blanket and say duct tape was wrapped around her hands, feet, and face. She appeared to have been suffocated.

It was on July 17, that police say her son, Jack “J.T” Clemons used her card in Kansas. After police in Kansas were notified, a high speed chase ensued and resulted in an arrest.

Detectives tried to speak with Jack Clemons, but he refused. In court the detective said he hasn’t spoken to anyone in law enforcement.
