A Clark County man has been charged in the theft of copper wire that was stripped from thirty five street lights early Thursday morning.
According to the Winchester Sun, Brian Bentley, 33, was arrested after deputies executed a search warrant at Bentley’s home.
Clark County Sheriff’s deputies were called early Thursday morning to investigate a damaged light pole. Upon arrival, a total of 35 poles were found damaged and copper wire had been removed.

After receiving information from Winchester Police about a suspect in other copper thefts, deputies went to Bentley’s residence and found a pile of burned copper wire and wire cutters in a pickup truck parked on the property. Behind the house was a fresh burn pile with more copper wire, usually done to remove the insulation.
Bentley was arrested and charged with theft by unlawful taking and first degree criminal mischief.
He was lodged in the Clark County Detention Center.
