Private Detective: Three Pedestrians Struck By Car, Driver Pleads Not Guilty

Three people were rushed to the hospital Sunday night after they were hit by a car.

It happened just before 11:30 p.m. near the intersection of Midland Avenue and Winchester Road. Police say a driver, identified as Asiel Iraola-Lovaco, was trying to turn from Winchester onto Midland when he hit three pedestrians who were on the sidewalk.

The three men were hit and thrown. All of the men were taken to UK Hospital.

Police reports identify the men as 35-year-old William Hockaday, 38-year-old Clarence Hockaday and 43-year-old Michael Knipper. Clarence and William are brothers.

Knipper was the most seriously injured and is still in critical condition at UK Hospital.

The Hocakadays were upgraded to fair condition Monday after suffering a broken leg and rib fractures.

Police say the driver fled the scene  but was later found on Leestown Road and taken into custody. Iraola-Lovaco has been charged with DUI, leaving the scene of an accident and three counts of first degree assault.

He pleaded not guilty in court Monday.

When officers ran Iraola-Lovaco’s driver’s license, they found no previous criminal history.
