Private Detective: Suspect Arrested in Animal Clinic Burglary

A day after a burglar was sent running from a Woodford County animal clinic, deputies have arrested the suspect in southern Kentucky Wednesday.

25-year-old Donnie Douglas Sparks, Junior has been arrested in connection to the recent burglaries at the Midway Small Animal Clinic, including one Tuesday night that was caught on camera.

On surveillance video, investigators say Sparks could be seen breaking into the animal clinic where he came face to face with a former Lexington police officer who was keeping watch inside. The retired officer volunteered to stay the evening at the clinic after two previous break-ins. The officer fought with Sparks until running off into the woods barefoot.

While Sparks was alone in the surveillance video, deputies say he was with 21-year-old Kelsey Morris Wednesday night.

Sparks was arrested in Rockcastle County and will be charged with first degree burglary. It’s unclear if state police will file any additional charges. As for Morris, she was was released but investigators say they’re looking into claims she stole from the Georgetown Waffle House where she works before taking off with Sparks.
