Private Detective: Police Believe Same Robber Hitting Same Lexington Gas Station

A robber continues to target the same Speedway repeatedly and police are trying to figure out who he is before he does it again.

The most recent robbery happened just before 3 a.m. Tuesday morning at the Speedway on Versailles Road. Police say a man walked in and displayed a weapon to the clerk, demanding money.

“You’ll notice in the surveillance video, this guy will come in, and he’s absolutely not scared to put a gun right in somebody’s face. He’s pointing it directly at their heads, making demands, rushing in very quickly, taking the clerk over to the cash register, getting what he needs and he runs out,” Detective Mark Thomas told LEX 18’s Angie Beavin.

They believe the same man has robbed the store at least six times before.

K-9 Units were brought in to try and track the suspect’s scent, but it was lost toward the back of the store.

They only have a limited description. They believe he is a black man who is about 25-years-old, standing six feet tall with a thin build.  Officers tell LEX 18 that the suspect was wearing a pretty distinct outfit at the time of Tuesday morning’s robbery. He was wearing grey sweatpants, a dark pullover with a front pocket and camo hood.

At this point, police say they’re working to see if the suspect was caught on surveillance video.
