Private Detective: CA Man Imprisoned For Trafficking Meth

District Judge Dane Watkins Jr. sentenced a California man to three to eight years in prison for trafficking almost a half pound of methamphetamine.

Efrain Enciso, 34, Lynwood, Calif., pleaded guilty Feb. 9 to trafficking at least 28 grams of methamphetamine but fewer than 200 grams. Misdemeanor charges of possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia were dismissed, pursuant to a plea agreement.

Court records show an Idaho State Police trooper stopped Enciso on Interstate 15 near the West Broadway Street exit for a window tint violation. The trooper wrote in his report he smelled an odor of marijuana from Enciso’s vehicle and requested a drug dog. The dog alerted to the presence of drugs and troopers found four separate bags containing about a half pound of methamphetamine.

John Dewey, Bonneville County chief deputy prosecutor, recommended a three- to 10-year prison term.
