A Montgomery County mother is charged with first degree criminal abuse after being accused of burning her two-year-old son with cigarettes.
Montgomery County Sheriff Fred Shortridge says they were first alerted to the alleged abuse by social services.
They say that 25-year-old Kristen Haddix burned her two-year-old son multiple times with a cigarette.

According to arrest papers, her son told investigators about his burns, saying “Mommy done it.”
Her six-year-old daughter also claims to have seen her mom burn the two-year-old on one occasion.
The Sheriff says Haddix willingly came down to their department to answer questions, but they say she denies any involvement of knowledge of the alleged abuse.
Sheriff’s Deputies claim an adult male also lives at the home on Van Thompson Road, they continue to investigate to see if he has any involvement in the crime.
Neighbors along Van Thompson Road say they aren’t familiar with the family that lives in this home, but they are surprised to hear about such shocking news coming out of their small community.
The Sheriff was not sure if the children have been removed from the home where the alleged abuse happened.
